Starlight Quilt

This design began as a vision that was then sketched onto graph paper, as I pieced the fabric together it evolved into a whimsical star pattern; taking on a life of it's own and evoking a sense of magic.  

Made with organic cotton, block printed polka dots with mud-resist and dyed with natural indigo. Hand quilted with Japanese sashiko thread. An heirloom quality quilt created with 200 hours of handwork.

The technique used in this cloth is a mud-resist known as “Dabu.” A cold-water resist, dabu is particularly effective for blocking out areas during an indigo bath. The character of dabu and the wooden blocks used to apply it, go together to create the distinctive patterns known as “dabu” prints.

Ready to be used on a bed, or admired hanging on a wall.
