This quilt was made as a group of 13 women during a 3 day workshop I led in Austin, hosted by Angela Ritchie's Ace Camps. Many hearts and hands helped grow this quilt to total 75 inches square. I provided the sewing tables with hand-dyed cotton and linen from my home studio. Machine-pieced and hand-quilted as a group, an experience and technique rooted in history.
Connecting at a human pace while working as a team to make a quilt for charity was totally awesome! The room was buzzing with creative souls gathered around sewing, sharing, listening. Angela provided us delicious and healthy food that gave us the energy to make an entire quilt in one weekend! The quilt was then auctioned off and the funds were donated to Penland School of Crafts for sending a disadvantaged kid to camp.
