It was a pleasure guest teaching on the Nook—an online sewing community where quilters and sewers can find their tribe, grow creatively, and celebrate their craft holistically.
And now I get to share the recording of my workshop, "Strings Attached," on my Substack! I hope you find it as enjoyable and inspiring as the live experience.
The workshop covers the techniques of foundation strip-piecing, string quilts, and scrap quilts. You'll learn how to incorporate even the tiniest scraps from your bin and mix vintage and modern fabrics for a timeless appeal. On top of that, I've included some video demos to help you level up your skills—one of them is on how to sew Y seams for an 8 point star. I hope these visuals will make it even easier to follow along and enhance your quilting techniques.
What truly makes this workshop special, though, is the sense of community fostered by the Nook's members. Their engagement and interaction throughout the lessons create an atmosphere of camaraderie and support that enriches the entire learning experience. There's nothing quite like the joy of learning alongside like-minded individuals in a nurturing environment.
Zak Foster”s “Nook” community is a warm and welcoming online hangout for quilters and textile artists from all over the globe. People get together to share their stories, find inspiration, and let their creativity run wild! The Nook is all about helping artists grow, learn new skills, and make some amazing friends along the way. It's like a cozy little corner of the internet for everyone who's passionate about quilting and textile art! The Nook is accepting of all people so go check it out and join if it calls to you.
I gotta give a huge shout-out to Zak because my very first Zoom teaching experience was all because of his kind invitation back in 2022. They welcomed me to teach a "Snowball Quilt" workshop, and at that time, I was totally new to the whole Zoom thing. I've learned so much since then, and I'm grateful for the opportunity Zak provided.
