Alaska Quilt
Made with a mix of vintage and naturally dyed fabrics. The variegated pink and brown colors are the result of red onion skins. The warm grays are a result of black walnut hulls.
Pieced together in a topsy-turvy flag-like pattern, resembling Alaskas small towns and Native villages scattered throughout the uninhabited wilderness. The backside is pieced using soft cotton flannel.
Hand-quilted with Japanese Sashiko cotton thread, padded with natural cotton batting, and trimmed with hand-stitched double-fold binding.
